Iberian Publishing Company's On-Line Catalog: Pleasants County Virginia
Pleasants County was formed in 1851 from portions of Wood, Ritchie, and Tyler counties. The new county was named for James Pleasants, governor of Virginia from 1822 to 1825 and United States senator from 1819 to 1822.The region of the present county was first settled around 1790.
