Iberian Publishing Company's On-Line Catalog: Raleigh County Virginia
Raleigh County was created in 1850 from the southern end of Fayette County. Its name honored the man who had made the earliest English effort to colonize Virginia. In 1863 an additional adjustment in the Raleigh-Mason County line was proposed. In 1871 a single farm in Wyoming County was transferred to Raleigh's administration.
