Iberian Publishing Company's On-Line Catalog: Floyd County Virginia
Floyd County was created in 1831 from the southern portion of Montgomery County. It name honored the current governor of Virginia, John Floyd (1830-1834). A small piece of land from Franklin County was added to Floyd in 1873, and Floyd County's boundaries have not changed since then.
